WON'T YOU OPEN A WINDOW SOMETIME?

photo by Logan White for PURPLE.

WHAT'S SO WRONG WITH THE LIGHT?

Friends are the best music sources! my bestie just introduced me to Angel Olsen and trust me, her name is not the only thing that sounds like heaven-sent. And although I feel kinda bipolar channeling all this firey and angelic sweet energy after my last blogpost featuring Playboy and Junglepussy, I said Satisfaction Guaranteed was my second favorite song at the moment; and Windows is my very first. It's just the perfect mix of things I love about other girls in this genre such as Feist and Cat Power but with a spacey melancholic country touch to it.

I love this image so so much. The whole serie Logan did for Purple is lovely but none of the other photos have the magic and energy this one has.

SATISFACTION GUARANTEED.

photos by Patrick van Dam.

Okay so these pictures are no news and they've been around since 2011 if google is right. But I'm loving how frivolously dutch Playboy photographer Patrick van Dam broke the perfect lusty male (maybe even female?) illusion of these perfectly sculpted women.

And this post is not even about him or playboy or soft porn BUT about how lately, the more I find out how things really work in worlds I looked up to, the more disappointed I get and the MORE I think to myself: damn I could rock this so much better.

So yes, pun intended and if the glove fits try it on.

That being said, I leave you to one of my 2 favorite songs at the moment. Shayna aka JUNGLEPUSSY stepped her flow up to the fucking MAX! on Satisfaction Guaranteed. I LOVE THIS WOMAN! yung calypso with the weave or genie in a bottle of Malibú as she describes herself on this lusty delish song. Hope u twerk as hard as I have on it!

THIS IS HONESTLY SO GORGEOUS!

Sam and Jayson are a match made in heaven after all.

If I ever ever gave birth, I'd raise all of my children to look and be exactly like this.

Hats off!

WELCOME TO METALLIC BUTTERFLY, WHERE YOU ARE NOW FREE.

I had waited for this moment for so long!

And last night my ears could finally experience my bae's Destiny Frasqueri's full musical debut as her geeky, freaky, hacker-self, PRINCESS NOKIA. Going from African drums and weird jazzy melodies to electro-synths and hip-hop beats, this compilation is very different from her speedy rap spitting persona, Wavy Spice.

"Young Girls" is definitely my favorite song of this whole production. It's soft and Bjork-reminiscent beginning perfectly unravels and opens up the beat into beautiful lyrics about spirituality, feminine youth and love.

"Dimensia" as an intro is perfect in it's robotic android welcoming message and reminds me a lot of TLC's intro song on their Fanmail record. "Hands Up" is real sexy. On "Cybiko" she gave me a little bit of that good old kunty vibe wrapped up in hacker-paranoia craze. "Dagons" is still and will always be that ecstatic gamer love song; making out against the arcade. "Biohazard Butterfly" has that old school melancholic hood air to it, a hazey-rainy day-perfect song! and I always have so much fun listening to "Nokia" where I picture raver girls belly-dancing in PVC pleated mini skirts with NOKIA phones strapped to 'em.

I still missed more of the rapping though! BUT I'm most certainly not disappointed. And if anyone is, they're missing the whole point of Metallic Butterfly, where love, fantasy and hope are #1. I'm sure she will please us and cover all of the other fields we love her for in her next production.

Our shoot for Elsewhere zine is out now and we couldn't be more proud of being part of this third issue! I personally loved the cover photo so so much and the shoot it came from too. For the Asia is the New Black issue we couldn't help but to jump on the technology wagon and base our shoot on the infamous selfie phenomena.

The shoot's been out for a week or two now and it's already been featured on Fucking Young! for which we're very grateful too!

KISS ME HARD AGAINST THE ARCADE.

ALTHOUGH the soundtrack of The Canyons was anything else than amazing and on-point, everytime I think of my favorite scene of the movie (THIS ONE), I can't stop replaying Tamaryn's Violets in a Pool over and over in my head. I feel like this song was meant for this scene. Having sparkling lasers above your bed never EVER made this much sense.

Last week was an emotional roller coaster but I'm better now. Life's teaching me lessons and damn the bitch is squeezin hard. But just like baby angel Aaliyah once said, we dust ourselves off and try again (x2).
