MIAMI MAMI.

Photos by Lara Verheijden
Styling by moi!

In exclusive for Contributor magazine.

Lara had always been one of my favorite stylists around here, and not only because of the things she usually dares to do within her aesthetic, but also because her vision goes so much beyond styling that she has recently had to start making her own photoshoots. When she invited me to jump into this Miami, new money, bimbo fatale story I didn't think twice before saying yes; it was something so on my lane that it was only destined to be shameless-perfect and a lot of fun!

Fusing 2 power stylists' opinions and visions onto 1 aesthetic and story was quite something though. But the hustle of it all made it only more exciting to jump from one look or picture to the other. After wrapping MIAMI MAMI up Lara and I were nothing less than inspired to keep on working together, so I hope to be able to show you all more of this around here!

Special thanks to Suke Suke vintage and PS Depot Deluxe!

PREVIOUS PREVIEWS.

outfit by Maison de Faux.

Just a small, juicy and ice cool preview of the shoot I did with Carlijn for Dreck magazine last monday. This month has been sort of my styling month for which I'm oh SO grateful and happy about because it's something I truly love to do. I hope to have official previews of the other two shoots soon!

Working with Carlijn was so easy and joyful it was almost scary. Sort of like when everything goes smoothly and you start to wonder when the earthquake will crack, but it never did *knocks on wood*. I loved finally getting my hands on some of my favorite Maison de Faux outfits too as I had fantasized about styling them ever since their debut show last Amsterdam fashion week.

On other news, my world is all about LINDSAY the Oprah docu series, The Canyons, Sven Weisemann and Spooky black here below at the moment. Spooky's mixtape BLACK SILK (omg name) is a nice substitute for the few melancholic alternative R&B songs Sukmeqilme once did and never continued making. I honestly needed more of that and God answered my prayers.

Also, Justin Oshea came to visit my boss last week and I didn't know what to do with myself with him in the same room. Though I have to admit he WAS sort of bigger, wider and taller in my dreams. Just a nice viking format you know?

Have you ever stayed up super dooper late, ended up on Style.com and surfed for all kinds of things within the site except clothing?

I have.

These screenshots from last Dior's couture show above are a good example of one of my many late night moments on the site. I loved the girls' cast and how their usual non-expression look ends up being extremely expressive unconsciously. Scared, sad, worried, melancholic, dreamy, hesitating, piercing, hypnotized...you can make tons of stories out of what might seem to be a bunch of blank faces.

Below, during spring 14's finale, runway photos were still being taken of some specific outfits and some of the shots had that same kind of bizarre magic as the faces series. Somewhere in between walking, posing and turning back, those couple of steps made up for strange poses and tilted bodies that gave each runway shot editorial potential.

I hope I'm not the only one seeing this.

HEAVEN ISN'T A PLACE, IT'S A FEELING.

/L FILE No. 11 [GET COSY] by Lucciana Nicolle.

THIS IS MY LIFE

Our lives

or at least the most adorable part of it.

My sister Lucci had been staying with us for a while once again. To have her around feels like being followed by a reality TV crew sometimes cause you never know whether she's making a picture or filming but one way or the other she's documenting 24/7. And it's only till she pops one of these montages every now and then that you understand what she saw in each moment.

With every time I watch I smile, then I hit replay uncountable times, and when reality hits towards the end, all I'm left thinking is: this video should be eternal.

I love everyone in this, and you're all angels forever in my heart.

ROMANTICIZED GANGS.

1.FKA twigs x inc.
2. images out Teen Angels magazine.

It seems like every FKA twigs video will have a dedicatory post from me around here. And is it just me or this girl is incapable of failing musically?!

Although you all might have experienced this video already (IN HD I HOPE), I just needed to talk about it. Too many of us see things nowadays, love them, but never pay hommage to them or the people behind these great creations that touch our senses. IT'S NEEDED to do so! genius people need to continue to do genius things and they need our encouragement. Share it, don't keep it to yourself, dare to flash your inner groupie once in a while...it will be appreciated.

I love the atmospheres she creates with each of her videos. In this one I just feel like being at that house with the three of them, smoking it and dancing in the desert around the fire in slo mo. A small gang so beautifully romanticized. This is exactly the kind of video that makes you feel like hopping in a car with your favorite people and just getting lost in a ghost town.........hopefully where houses have pools, XL bbq's, monster sound systems and 24 hours liquor stores.

"Teen Angels magazineThe Voice of the Varrio Since 1979. Made in Los Angeles, Teen Angels was first published in 1981 and featured Chicano gang graffiti, artwork, poetry, fashion, photographs of readers, obituaries and articles on topics like teen pregnancy and relationships. As mentioned by 12oz prophet, the later issues contain more disturbing subjects—babies throwing gang signs, gang bangin’ girls, weapons pictures—as well as some sick low-rider artworks, typographic pages and touching poems from dudes locked down for life. A 1992 Los Angeles Times article reports that police used Teen Angels magazine as a training guide to learn gangs fashion trends and graffiti tags. It was banned in Ventura Schools.

...Although Teen Angels prints anti-violence and anti-drug slogans, authorities say the magazine glorifies street gangs and their violent lifestyle. …" -Kelly Rakowski.

FANTASEED.

photos by Cédric.

You all really need to do your ears a favor and trip a little with Hood By Air's FW14 runway music.

I've replayed it at least 10 times and counting.

On-pointness

TOTAL FREEDOM

The thought of an early spring around here has everyone acting like they don't need a jacket anymore and catching pneumonia lol. Not that pneumonia is anything to joke about, but you get it. It IS cute to see flowers blooming in february though, THE FANTASEED!

I'm kinda crazy about turtle necks right now, TRUST and Beck's new albums and Céline FW14. She did it again. Those Dr. Martenified ankle zip up boots dear lord!

I really like my new job at Rika.

I miss Paris and hate having to skip fashion week, but these are times of shit togetherness.

There's solid plans of shooting with Carlijn Jacobs and I'm really excited!

Also hope to be able show you a little something to be featured on Elsewhere and Platinum Love magazine soon.

DEAR DEARS
