HOLY OBSESSION: QUAY DASH x SPACE RACE TABI SNEAKER.

Quay Dash ft. Maison Martin Margiela's Fall 14 Tabi "sneaker".

A song and an image providing me with all the inspiration I need at the moment.

Quay Dash is an upcoming rap princess from The Bronx, New York at CUNTMAFIA. She might have a counted amount of tracks out this far but as a transgender female MC with quite an old school fire spitting flow, I'm craaaaaaaaaaaaazy hyped for what she might bring next to the game.

I'M SORRY, DID I JUST LIKE HURT YOUR FUCKING FEELINGS? - Quay Dash.

As for the shoe, I've never really been the sneaker type, but this Tabi boot pretending to be sporty footwear from space is giving me so much life. It's almost as if they're already preparing us for hurricane Galliano to take over and not only am I more than prepared but I'm loving the transition.

SHOOTING, POSING, DREAMING.

Last monday Cedric, Patrick and I joined forces on taking the next big step into a project we have been really excited for way too long now.

Patrick and I have somehow ended up making music. We don't exactly know why but what we are sure of is that this was the only way to unleash all kinds of ideas and little fantasies we had gathered and built together around fashion, photography and music beats. When you spend so much time with people you love and click with, ideas keep piling up and at some point it doesn't matter how crazy, weird or out of your league such ideas might be, they need to get materialized; become real.

We'll go by The Thins for now and our first song GUNS 'N POSES prod. by TORVS is already a fact. this 31st of October, or Halloween, or my B-day (however you wanna call it) we will give all our closest and dearest friends the first hear at what the beginning of this adventure already sounds like. Like this, on November 4th GUNS 'N POSES will be officially out and ready to be yours, a party anthem, a new memory.

Stay tuned!:

For now, I leave you to Marcus Marr's - Pleasure Moon, what our lives sound like at the moment.

DREAM GIRLS LOOK LIKE DREAM BOYS.

Last time I surfed Paparazzi Models's site for beauty and inspiration, I encountered Karolijn's face and I've been Girl-Crushed ever since. Not only do I need everything she's wearing in these pictures urgently, but I would more than love to have the chance to work with her once!

DANCING QUEENS.

But since I've met you and moved to Sydney, I haven't listened to one Abba song. That's because my life is as good as an Abba song. It's as good as Dancing Queen. - Muriel's Wedding

HALLOWEEN, MY BIRTHDAY & OTHER PRIVATE MATTERS.

Dream The Row alligator backpack by Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, pimped by Damien Hirst

October has officially started and I actually can't wait for it to be over!

Because this 31st of October, like any other 31st of October since 1990 also known as Halloween, will bring my birthday along.

Last time I celebrated being a year older, way too many weirdos, and rude unknown people crashed causing a lot of unnecessary drama. Therefore this year I wanted my party theme to match my worry and wish to keep things creme de la creme once inside; and whatelse could be more exclusive, fun and nostalgic than playing highschool again? wear private school uniforms and pretend our daddies and mommies send Bentleys to pick us up after class? nothing.

And well, since this one night institution will need a head bitch in charge, who else could I be on a Private School themed party than Mrs. Blair Waldorf herself?!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN MONTH ERRBODY!

xoxo

RAGE IS CUTE, HATE IS FIERCE.

1. 2. 3. by Cedric.
4. 5. by me. (back to my weird romantic street photography)

Last time while in Paris I found this gem at the Cheap Monday store in Le marais and fell in love with it's sadness. The faster and colder days get, the more I fall back into my autumn patterns; music gets darker, slower, dreamier, outfits get heavier and moods get gloomier.

This fall I'm looking forwards to wearing more leather than ever; from head to toe if possible and not necesarily all black. I'm also desperately looking for _the_ leather backpack of my dreams but if my wallet isn't able to go for high end options I guess I'll have to wait and get lucky either in vintage or raid every flea market in town possible.

"Reason" by Spooky Black trully kills me and I think his mixtape and album are a gift from sad boy heaven.

CROSS MY HEART AND HOPE TO SHINE.

There's something about every-day-jewelry that makes getting out your door way easier. You throw something on, you think you're ready but the cherry on top is still missing. It's also funny how simply having a new necklace can make your whole wardrobe feel new.

Ever since I mysteriously lost my last cross necklace, the hunt for a new one was long and hard mostly in a country like the Netherlands where neither crosses or catholicism were ever popular beliefs at all. I personally don't follow any religion but my own drive to do whatever I love and makes me and those around me happy. That, and a little bit of discipline and gratitude make up for the perfect religion imo.

I found this 20's silver cross with black encrusted stones at my favorite antique shop in my town: Bibeloo Antiques.

WE NEED SOMETHING BAD TO BE GOOD.

"VICES" for WE THE URBAN issue #8.
All photos by Cédric, styled by moi.
Hair: Geo Timmerman.
Grooming: Francis Krol.
Model: Jelle @Muskmodels.
Assistant photograpy: Mohamed Barzini.

1. Kleptomania, Smoking.
2. Chocolate, Vanity.
3. Masochism, Ecstasy.
4. Alcohol, Speed.

I think this might be one of the funnest concepts we ever brought to life this far. Not only was Jelle a DREAM model boy to work with for this specific idea, but having full freedom on a subject such as 'Vices' was just awesome. I'll just let each picture speak for itself! I think everything's quite clear lol.

LET'S GLOW NOW.

Taken with iPhone, woops!

But this is just a sneak peak of Joeri Woudstra's aka Torus upcoming video for "Creepin". I was the chosen and lucky one to do the styling for it and we can't wait to show everybody this magical, trippy and sinister visual recipe cause it's gonna kill to be quite honest. His new EP "TEMPLES" is about to drop in an upcoming late november and it will be something "MASSIVE, ETHERIC AND DIVINE" as Mr. Torus describes himself. I personally already heard half of the songs on it and all I know is that I need it on my every playlist as soon as possible.

HOLY INTERIOR: LELLA AND MASSIMO VIGNELLI COFFE TABLE.

Just like puzzle pieces perfectly put together, this Lella and Massimo Vignelli coffee table would be the ultimate upgrade and final missing piece in my home interior puzzle. The fact that you can actually rearrange each black marble shape holding the glass plate for a less uniform support makes this coffee table very playful and even more desirable. And though nothing beats marble and a beautifully cut thick piece of glass, my DIY spirit does feel a little awaken to make my own version of this masterpiece.

POLLY MORGAN: FLOATING SNAKES.

From left to right:

1. Depression In A Surface.
2. Some Sad Story.
3.Standing In Circles.

I think Polly Morgan's work might be causing me some serious writer's block at the moment. The kind when you like something so much you don't know how to express yourself about it. Her sculptural taxidermy does not only flirt with life and death but it also adds a little bit of sinister fantasy to the mix. The fact that all her snakes have this floating aspect gives my imagination Carte Blanche for a thousand stories that could be told. And although her work goes up to even bigger scales and heavier visual aspects, these flying reptiles remain my favorites. I mean, wouldn't they make gorgeous center pieces on our dining room tables?! coffee tables? or even bedside tables?? either way I want them, and need them in my home.

ENJOY YOUTH, IT'S DELICIOUS.

Dylan, The OG Ogenda and moi myself at the HOPE store opening last wednesday in Amsterdam.

I had no clue HOPE made such good shoes?! There were two pairs of ankle boots from the girls department that had me hyper. It was surprising in general to have such a clear overlook of what their brand is all about. They truly have way more to offer than the usual safe selections that department stores make. A lot of bold dresses, jackets and fun trousers had me re-evaluating the image I had of their brand in my head.

Hartenstraat 26, 9 streets, Amsterdam. Experience HOPE if you get a chance!

LIVING UP, GIVING UP.

I HAD to get on this one!

So Grimes signs with Jay Z's Roc Nation and pops THIS!!!! rumour had it around me that her new stuff had destroyed the electropop goddess' mystical vibes into something drum n bass-ish and cheap. But to me this is for sure not a sell out, and sounds more like gooooood good trap with the same good old angelic but dramatic vocals. That's exactly why I like to give everything and everyone a chance before rolling with the hate wave. I don't get why our generation has such difficulties to see artists evolve or at least try a new thing. I personally couldn't be happier for her to have jumped onto Jay's wing. You can see there's still a lot of freedom for her art and vision and well.....lotta MONEY too, yum.

Maybe it's weird to say but my eyes find rest in this visually as well. There's a lot of references but none of them are obvious to the point of boredom. The photography value to it all is GOLD! and styling was a dream.

Hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

EMOTIONALLY MELT-ED.

/LFILE No. 13 by my adorably talented sis Lucciana.

With almost tears in my eyes and a full knot in my throat, I've just revisited our MELT festival 2014 experience by hitting replay several times and I think I'm on to hit it a couple more times after I'm done writing this. It's almost silly how these three days on a campside, with only a few hours of sleep per day and under crazy temperatures can generate so many butterflies in one's stomach through memories.

For the same reason we woke up every morning all hangover thinking: "How will I ever get through today?" I remember to have kept on repeating to myself: "enjoy each second" because it was all truly over before we knew it.

And although it still feels heavily sad for it to be over again, this video right here is still us, all those moments are still ours and they will be forever.

Thanks to Lucci for the revival and to everyone in this video:

I
LOVE
YOUUUUUU

WHITE SHIRTS, SILVER GAMES, ART HOUSES.

photos by Cédric.

So here's a look and three shirts I've worn literally out for the last couple of days. While packing back in the city, I included tons of printed, striped, and colorful silk shirts for my Spanish wardrobe, but there's just something about white, clean-cut cotton essentials that a lot of other shirts can't compete with.

The closest town and beach around here is at least half an hour away by car, so keeping yourself entertained within the house and garden all of a sudden becomes the second most important priority besides keeping yourself fresh and cool. This is how I've recently become obsessed with the french game Pétanque. Coming from someone who's not into any kind of games (except SNES Mario Bros and Donkey Kong) I can say this is a really nice game in which competition happens in a chill and laid back way. Though who am I kidding, I just think the sight of these silver boules on grass or even dirt is amazing.

But okay, further than french ball games (lol), ice cold drinks and good deep house mixes by the pool under these crazy temperatures, on this second and last week on our gorgeous villa in Taravaus, we decided to do a little more than sunbathe; being Salvador Dalí's house (now museum) in Portlligat our main destination. The house that became Dalí’s main residence in 1930 started off as a small fisherman’s hut. Then Dalí went to work on the structure, renovating it little by little over the next 40 years, creating a living, breathing, labyrinthine home that reflects the artist’s one-of-a-kind aesthetic. It will be a long car ride still, but I already know it will be totally worth it...and if not, at least I'll have somethingelse to post on IG besides pool selfies.

TO DO OR TO LIVE?

photos by Cédric.

Although I'm in Spain already, these are some of the moments at our one day and night pit stop stay in Montpellier, south of France; because more than 8 hours straight in a car has never been good for anyone's butt. The constant and intense sunshine has done wonders with my body and state of mind as well as having limited periods of internet to check only the necessary...room service and a casual mermaid appearances at our pool haven't been bad either! A clearer imagination and change of scenery have created a lot of extra space for brighter ideas, so much that I've started to obsessively make lists of TO DO lists. One way or the other I find myself having so much fun and being so inspired that I have stopped to live in the moment to document what I'll do with the present in a near future. But I guess if keeping the balance in between soaking up the present and fantasizing about my sparkly future plans is my only worry at the moment, I'm a lucky bastard.

The barbwire tat on my forearm is my new baby! and is my graduation ink, standing for the four years I recently spent at the art academy. On my graduation collection I used a single barbwire with four spikes as a print, but it was only months after school was done that I realized I had no clue what barbwire stood for. As I looked it up I found out that when convicts get a barbwire tattoo, each spike stands for a year spent in prison. That being said, I thought this would be the perfect closure for four beautiful but challenging years of blood, tears and sweat.

GLAMPING.

So this is me at the beginning of my Melt festival trip.

Still fresh, still sharp, energetic, with clean soft hair and clothes, shaved, smelling good...etc etc you get the point! and although the ending of this whole experience looked completely the opposite from this, (which is probably why I don't have an "after" picture) I'm still so sad it ended. Those three days, surrounded by beautiful loving people, with no responabilities nor worries but thinking about what you'll wear to the parties that night and whether you will be having a veggie cheese burger or a big ass Handbrotzeit for dinner, were total bliss. So I miss my Melt family and every minute spent there with them. But summer ain't done yet and with festivals popping up every minute like newsletters I guess a reunion will be more than easy to plan.

ACTRESS, Omar Souleyman, Portishead, Nod One's Head, Brodinsky, Son Lux and almost all DJ's at the sleepless stage were true highlights of my whole festival experience; if you get the chance to see any of these live, please DO. I missed the Robyn x Royksopp 2 hours performance though, as well as HAIM so I'm still trying to forgive myself for this stupidity. But when sun's shining those 34 degrees over your head and tent, it's kinda easy to deprioritize what truly matters for an afternoon swim in the lake.

HHHOLYDAYS.

wearing Yves Saint Laurent sunglasses, Gap sleeveless denim shirt, Prada jacket, thrifted shorts, market espadrilles.

photos by Cédric.

As you can see, although the weather in The Netherlands has been relatively good lately, every third or fourth day in a week we have days in which, even wearing a chocolatey full leather Prada jacket on a chilly afternoon is possible. A styling dream, but a total summer low blow.

This same day one year ago, me and an army of friends were on our way to MELT festival in Germany. Fortunately for all of us, that moment is here again! tents are still not my favorite places to live from and sleep in but everything else apart from that is something I truly wanted to relive. Now, as I make a come back to the city on monday probably with 30 hangovers above my head, I will only have one day to recover before going back to work. But thank god the fun doesn't stop there because by friday I will be leaving the city again heading to the south of Spain with the in-laws and sweet boyfriend.

So, I never thought I would say this, but no Prada for me these upcoming weeks! and if any of you know where I can find well fitting, light but powerful human batteries, you better hook me up!

FASHION HOUSES, PARTY DRESSES & HOT MESSES: MAISON DE FAUX + DAVID LAPORT.

1. Maison de Faux - Make a U-turn if Possible
2. David Laport backstage (shot by Team Peter Stigter)

Amsterdam's Fashion Week is around again! and yesterday My dear dears at Maison de Faux and David Laport showed us what they had in store for us this season. It was a very special day for the two upcoming houses, which with only a few collections further from their graduation dates, have kept the crowds hungrier to know which step will they be taking next.

The Laport show took place earlier in the afternoon. As I actually had some inside scoop over the collection from David himself a few weeks before the show, I was trying not to spill any of the vital details to anyone, and trying to put all the pieces together in my imagination to get ready for what I was about to presence. His first face walks down the runway, and as the rest of the looks follow, I realize the Laport girl had grown up. Bold use of bright primary colors lightened up the pattern in between the transparent fabrics and layers of black in each outfit. Pleats where to be found! but in a way more subtle way than before and to be spotted at second or third sight. Textiles got richer as he had a new take on fishnet with irregular holes and even a feather-like nylon came through adding a lot of softness to all outfits which were very feminine but very strict at the same time.

The night came setting in and the line outside Maison de Faux was long and hyped up. From the moment we were welcomed in their show space, dimmed colorful lights shined on three half naked and wet singers who welcomed us all with hysterical chants that went from uncontrollable laughter to even tears at times. The three of them stood in the middle of what seemed like the Garden of Maison de Faux's Eden. Plastic horses that spat water into a pond gave me the feeling that this garden, might be the one I'd like to get lost in. The show starts and the chants only get louder, scarier and funnier. Look after look, I just wanted the models to stop or walk slower to be able to have a better look at each layer carefully. Half tied-up bikini tops on guys as necklaces, heavily crystal embroidered lace tops, roughly and randomly cut edges, overalls with open side-seams, rich colorful weavings and thick leather tops that pretended to be soft cotton oxford shirts made all part of the tastiest visual details in my favorite outfits. This whole show, from performance, to styling, vibe and presentation really came acrosss as a the pleasant slap in the face that Amsterdam needed this season.
